Our Mixed Media Moods - October "Fall" Canvas

What is "Our Mixed Media Moods"?:
Every month, DeeDee Catron and I use a mood board created by one of us to inspire projects that we post tutorials for on our Youtube channels. We also encourage people to create their own projects and link up to DeeDee's blog. This month we have an extra special guest creating with is; Aaron from Imperfect Impulses. He graciously agreed to create using our mood board and his project is not to be missed!

***Links to Aaron & DeeDee's videos and blogs will all be listed at the end of this post***
We also have a Facebook Group and love if you joined us there!

Art Journal Page - "Take A Risk"

Here is a spread in my mini art journal:
(To see exactly how it's made check out the process video at the end of this post!)

The background is a direct inspiration from Stephanie Papin. I have been watching her Youtube Channel and I just had to try out some of her techniques because her pages come out amazing.

Art Journal Page - - Glass Bead Gel + Gold Mica Flakes = True Love

I was painting the other day and suddenly I thought, "What if I use Glass Bead Gel and Gold Mica Flakes together?" So, I tried it out and man oh man! Is the result a shimmery, shiny, glorious mess of texture.

Here is an art journal page I made using this mixture thru a Donna Downey Floral Stencil.

Altered Box for Our Mixed Media Moods

It's that time again! The collab between DeeDee Catron and myself where we create projects using a mood board.

Here is this month's mood board:

I used a lot of elements from the mood board in my project; the typewriter, the greens, the vintage papers, the keys and the doilies.

You can join in, too. Just create a project using any element (s) from the mood board and link up to DeeDee's Blog!

Art Journal Page for "Our Mixed Media Moods" Collaboration with DeeDee Catron

It's a new month, so that means DeeDee Catron and myself have challenged eachother to create projects and process videos using a mood board. This month DeeDee created the board and it is so inspiring. There is so much to pull from.

-It is a monthly collaboration between DeeDee Catron and myself. Each month we take turns creating a mood board, then we both create projects using that mood board for inspiration. We film process videos for our projects and post them to YouTube. We encourage other artists to use the mood board and play along! There is a link up on DeeDee's blog to share your project with us.

This month there is a $25 GiftCard to Michael's Art & Craft Store up for grabs.
-All you have to do is create a project using the mood board and then link it up to DeeDee's blogpost. We will choose one random winner!

I was inspired by the neutral tones sprinkled throughout the mood board, but especially in the weaving in the middle bottom picture.

I also added some "wood grain" elements in the form of the kraft colored bits. I think the kraft color fits in perfectly.

I also pulled from the teal colors in the board and used some teal papers in my collaged background and some light teal coloring created with Distress Crayons mixed with gesso.

Don't forget to check out DeeDee's Blogpost to see her project, watch her video & link up your own project for a chance at that giftcard!
