This is a page out of my Vintage Altered Book that I am using to house my old family photos. I am scanning the originals and putting the copies in my book. This is a photo of my Grandparents with my mother. My mother was even able to tell me the exact address of the house they are standing in front of. I asked her where she thought they were going because my Grandmother is carrying her purse and my mom has a dress on. My grandmother never drove, so they must have been going to walk somewhere because it looked like my grandfather wasn’t dressed to go anywhere. My mom wasn’t sure, so I asked her if she had any story I could include with the photo. She told me that my grandmother walked to the grocery store to do her shopping every Saturday morning, rain or shine. She also told me she would wait for her to get back because my grandmother always brought her back comic books.   These are exactly the types of stories I want to include in this album. A few years ago, my mom gave me a photo album filled with vintage black and white photographs of my relatives. So, I created an altered book dedicated to making art journal-type pages for these photos. The book is a vintage math book. I tore some pages out and then glued 2 or 3 pages together for sturdiness.     The only two requirements for my pages in this book is, I want the entire book to have a vintage-y feel and I want each page to have quite a bit of space for journaling. I plan on getting the story behind each photo (if my mom knows it) and adding it to the page.     This page has a tag that slips behind the photo that I plan to journal on all about the photo. Right now all I know is (I think) the man in the photo is my great grandfather. I want to not only include dates and locations, but if my mother knows a little story or antidote about the person in the photo, I want to include that as well.     Process ...

The other day I was looking at an empty cigarette pack when it hit me, make a few cuts and this would make the perfect matchbox mini! What a perfect way to make something disgusting into something beautiful.   I did not actually use the cigarette pack, but it did inspire the measurements for the matchbox I did make. BOX MEASUREMENTS: Watercolor Outside Piece: 5 ¾” Long Scored at 2 ½” and 3 ¼” 4 ¼” Wide Scored at ¾” and 3 ½” Black Cardstock Drawer Piece: 4” x 4” scored at ¾” on all sides It's called "Little Talks" because I plan to fill the mini journal with a few positive affirmations. We all have those little talks with ourselves, be it positive or negative.
