Art Journal Page - "Our Memories"

This is a page out of my Vintage Altered Book that I am using to house my old family photos. I am scanning the originals and putting the copies in my book.

This is a photo of my Grandparents with my mother. My mother was even able to tell me the exact address of the house they are standing in front of. I asked her where she thought they were going because my Grandmother is carrying her purse and my mom has a dress on. My grandmother never drove, so they must have been going to walk somewhere because it looked like my grandfather wasn’t dressed to go anywhere. My mom wasn’t sure, so I asked her if she had any story I could include with the photo. She told me that my grandmother walked to the grocery store to do her shopping every Saturday morning, rain or shine. She also told me she would wait for her to get back because my grandmother always brought her back comic books.
These are exactly the types of stories I want to include in this album. I was pleased all around withhouse this page came out. Be sure to check out the process video!

  1. What a wonderful page and memory. I am constantly talking about my grandparents and aunt to my daughter. Often I wonder when I'm come will they remember the stories as all of my family except my passed before they were born. I should start a book of memories. Well I am older, age 67, and women and children never worn pants/jeans or slacks so I'm thinking your grandparents and especially your mother are in my age group/era. We always went to the market with mother, my sister and I in pretty dresses, lacy socks/black leather maryjane's, gloves and Mom in a beautiful 1950's dress complete with stockings and high heels. Looks like your picture. Cherish the memories. Thanks for sharing.

Our Mixed Media Moods "Trust"

We are back, baby! DeeDee and I took a little break but we are back with our monthly collab "Our Mixed Media Moods.

Every month one of us creates a mood board and then we create projects based on that mood board. We also create detailed process videos of our projects.

So without further ado....

Here is this month's mood board!
We are using transparent layers, transparency, fabric, stitching, text, vintage book text, wood, fibers, vintage sewing patterns, tissue paper, machine sewing, encaustic, weaving, scribbles and mark making, browns, tans, whites, creams, vintage colors

For my project I used a lot of elements from the board. I started with using the color scheme. I also used transparent layers and book text.

I used some resin papers and machine sewing. I even tried hand stitching. I stitched my chipboard word with white embroidery thread. I also tried some French knots under my main cluster.

I used the "trust" chipboard piece as my wood element because it looked a …

"Create Joy" || Mini Junk Journal

I have the first page in my mini junk journal to share today!

It is on ledger paper which I made sure to cover with clear gesso so the paper would hold up. it is a very Dina Wakley-esque page, with a splot of Dylusions Ink and some magenta paint. It came together very quickly, which is exactly what I wanted for this 'art everyday' venture.

To see exactly how I made it, you can watch the process video at the end of this post. There is also a complete supply list with links to everything I used on this page.
