NaNoJouMo 2015 Day #11 (Art Journal Page - "Paris")

Another quick page today for NaNoJouMo 2015. Making quick, easy pages is the only way I can fit art journaling in everyday.

ABOUT THIS PAGE:

I used a stamp on this page from a Studio Calico Project Life Kit. The stamp says, "Around Here" and every time I see it, it reminds me of the Counting Crows Song "'Round Here".

So, I wrote the lyrics all around my page incorporating the stamp when the words fit.

""Round here we talk just like lions, but we sacrifice like lambs.."  This makes me think of how people are generally in their own world, just focusing on themselves. Except when a tragedy happens, people rally for each other - they support each other. Seeing how every one around the world is praying for Paris and starting dialogues of change makes me hopeful. It's sad that some people can be such monsters, and so violent. Yet, it gives me hope when I see how everyone gathers to support those victims affected.

What happened in Paris is a terrible, horrible thing. You could choose to focus on how evil people can be, but I choose to focus on how people rise up for each other when tragedy strikes. I wish it didn't take a tragedy for people to come out of their own selfish world and stand for each other and maybe I need to do some changing, too.

Our Mixed Media Moods "Trust"

We are back, baby! DeeDee and I took a little break but we are back with our monthly collab "Our Mixed Media Moods. Every month one of us creates a mood board and then we create projects based on that mood board. We also create detailed process videos of our projects. So without further ado.... Here is this month's mood board! We are using transparent layers, transparency, fabric, stitching, text, vintage book text, wood, fibers, vintage sewing patterns, tissue paper, machine sewing, encaustic, weaving, scribbles and mark making, browns, tans, whites, creams, vintage colors For my project I used a lot of elements from the board. I started with using the color scheme. I also used transparent layers and book text. I used some resin papers and machine sewing. I even tried hand stitching. I stitched my chipboard word with white embroidery thread. I also tried some French knots under my main cluster.  I used the "trust" chipboard piece as m
